The history of our company dates back to 1948, when Armando Barrio Mata from Gijón had the original idea of packing the roe of sea urchins, then very abundant in the rocks and beaches of Asturias.
Initially intended for family consumption and used as a gift, the unique product soon showed commercial possibilities that Armando was able to see and develop.
In those years there were many small canneries scattered along the Cantabrian coast, like the one his father ran back in 1920.
Armando himself manufactured and marketed salted fish, perhaps the most artisanal of the canned products.
He is the one who finally registered the trademark in 1968 and 21 years later he was the one who brought about the birth of what we know today as CONSERVAS AGROMAR.
