MAR DE FRADES ALBARIÑO

Made with 100% Albariño

VARIETY: 100% Albariño

VINTAGE: The autumn months were characterized by high temperatures and very little rainfall, unusual conditions for the Atlantic coast.

The cold arrived in January and with a single night of frost, we started the spring with days and days of rain: heavy and light, constant or at times, which marked an atypical setting of bunches of grapes. The summer surprised us with continuous sunny days and a lot of heat, after the suffered hydric stress the vines began the ripening of their clusters so that on the 6th of September we started the harvest of the freshest, aromatic and ripe Albariño grapes.

WINE MAKING: The boxes of Albariño grapes were catalogued in the winery, hours later they went through our selection tables and only those whole, healthy and turgid grapes (we discarded 12%) went to our macerators with the Ganímede method. There, with the help of CO2 we extract the most noble substances from the grapes. The musts, with their frank and clean aromas, fermented with their own yeast in a slow and delicate environment, controlled in order to capture the most Atlantic and mineral aromas.

TASTING NOTE: Mar de Frades 2016 stands out for its radiant fine lemon colour with hints of seaweed. Its luminous appearance invites aromas of stone fruit, apricot and loquat, together with almond blossom and subtle saline and tropical notes. The palate is balsamic and Atlantic, with flavors of orange preserve and aromatic herbs that elevate it to be a tasty and decisive wine.

FOOD PAIRING: Due to its freshness and lively saline aromas, the 2016 vintage admits intense flavours both from the sea, such as marinated salmon or Sashimi, and from the land, vegetable gyozas or hummus.

THERMOCROMIC LABEL: The label incorporates a thermosensitive logo, which makes a small boat appear when the wine reaches its optimum drinking temperature, which will disappear if the wine is not cold enough for tasting.
