THREE NATIVE WHITE VARIETIES
The Vinya del Llac is a north-facing vineyard, with clay soils that release water slowly throughout the vegetative cycle, and where, at depth, we find calcareous bedrock, with embedded pebbles, which limit the water reserve, providing more structure to the grapes of this flagship plot. The influence of the lake in this symbolic vineyard moderates climatic conditions, avoids heat stress and favors long ripening. It is a Blanc de Blancs made from the three native white varieties: Macabeu, Xarel-lo and Parellada.
The great novelty this year is the incorporation of Malvasia de Sitges in the Blanc de Blancs blend.
The Malvasia de Sitges is a variety that has almost disappeared, but we have recovered it in our estate. With 1.5 hectares in our vineyard in La Plana. So, in order to continue innovating with our sparkling wines, we decided to incorporate Malvasia de Sitges into the Blanc de Blancs, a complicated variety in viticulture but a jewel in winemakingIt has a very high natural acidity, so it acts as a natural acidifier, it also gives us volume, it has good ripening and is intense and complex aromatically.
Thus we present a Blanc de Blancs with 5% of Malvasia de Sitges, and the rest with the traditional native varieties; Macabeo, Xarel-lo and Parellada.
